Importance of Bridesmaid Gifts
Wedding is an occasion that demands a lot of attention. The bride and the groom, both enter into a new phase of their lives, leaving behind the past and looking forward to a new and prosperous, happy future.
And how could you forget or ignore your friends who are there right from the start. Who have comforted in the times when you were down and having a hard time managing with your, now spouse and then, a boyfriend. And some of those turn out to be your very own, bridesmaid too! Choosing the right bridesmaid gifts becomes vital and necessary in this instance. And why not! They surely deserve this much for being with you throughout the important phases of your life.
The most important thing that you need to keep in mind while selecting the right wedding thank you gifts is that you really understand the nature and thinking of each friend. And that is exactly what will make them realise and show as to how much you care and appreciate their support. Another important thing to note here is that it is not actually mandatory to gift only some traditional and usual gifts. You should think out of the box and come up with something which is different. Something which makes them believes that you really understand them.
Some of the usual and famous bridesmaid gifts could be rings, purses, personalized T shirts and light jewellery. But keep in mind an important aspect, mentioned earlier also that the gift should be equivalent and matching the personality of that friend. If you gift her makeup set and she is not at all interested or inclined toward using beauty and skin care products, then that gift of yours will not be able to love you more. The key is, to understand you friend well and then looking for the right bridesmaid gifts!
Superstitions about wedding dresses
Every single marriage involves a wedding dress. Therefore over time a lot of myths and superstitions have arisen over what and what not to wear when it comes to wedding dresses.
Obviously the colour of your dress is something that everyone has an opinion on but an old rhyme kept everyone in check in the early sixteenth century:
Married in White, you have chosen right,
Married in Blue, your love will always be true,
Married in Pearl, you will live in a whirl,
Married in Brown, you will live in town,
Married in Red, you will wish yourself dead,
Married in Yellow, ashamed of your fellow,
Married in Green, ashamed to be seen,
Married in Pink, your spirit will sink,
Married in Grey, you will go far away,
Married in Black, you will wish yourself back.
It would seem that white is your best option, but this is what they encouraged as it is said to symbolise maidenhood. Incidentally green is thought unlucky everywhere except Ireland where it is lucky. It just goes to show that is all depends on where you were brought up and the traditions and myths you are told.
Nearly everyone knows the superstition that the groom should not see the wedding dress until the day of the wedding, in fact some take it as far as not allowing the groom to see any wedding dresses at all. However, less well known ones include the bride not being allowed to make their own wedding dresses, as it is bad luck. Not great for those of us who are trying to keep the cost down in these budget cutting times.
It is also considered unlucky to wear your entire outfit before the wedding day. So that final trying on session should be without something, perhaps a shoe, or an earring or your veil. But this would stress me out as I would want to know before the day how I should look, it seems others have felt the same as they got around this superstition by leaving a final stitch on the dress undone until just before you walk down the aisle when you get it stitched up.
Wedding dresses seem to have a lot of things to avoid in order to staying lucky, but I feel as long as you look beautiful, feel comfortable and want to get married, your day will go swimmingly.
